The Birth of a Brand
When geeky Special Interest met Autistic Hyperfocus at the sewing machine, it was love at first stitch. But neither were ready to commit. Years of casual sewing dates resulted in some amazing Halloween costumes, but Spooky Season couldn't keep the fire lit year round. Despite occasionally saving money upcycling clothes, the relationship languished.
That is, until Special Interest threw down and bought the hardware—a much-needed machine upgrade!
Commitments were made, vows taken, and soon after Make Believe Threads was born.
My Creative Process
Hi, I'm Rory, autistic sewist in Oceanside, California and maker of unique treasures reflecting my somewhat atypical obsession with real-world utility, make-believe fandoms, and a penchant for anthropomorphizing All. The. Things.
At Make Believe Threads I never recreate a design. This satisfies my brain's need for new challenges while also ensuring the singularity of each make.
My artistry is constantly evolving. If nothing strikes your fancy today, something may when you return.
But if something does speak to you, remember—there can be only one... ;)
